My 58 Fury Story

This story was originally written and posted to the Mopar Mailing List under the heading of "What got me started", an extension of one of MMLs' famous "Friday Themes". The story has evolved into a history of my addiction to Chrysler automobiles.

First, about the Fury. < story mode on> I bought it in the early 60s, after destroying my 57 Belvedere in a conflict with a turn and a mountain. The Fury was a 318 2-4bbl, auto, PS, PB. It ran but had a tremendous knock, which turned out to be a broken crank. So in goes the 334ci out of the 57, on goes the 2-4bbl manifold and I'm back in stock class again. ;^) The Fury runs much slower that the 57, even returning to the 3-2s doesn't bring the performance up to my standards, so it's time to increase the displacement. As I said in my original post, 350ci, 361ci, 383ci, (which ends up in my 59 Dodge 1/2 ton) and finally a 413, donated by a friendly 61 Chrysler. Finally the power I need, but what's this? I'm married with two sons! Yikes!! racing is expensive, mama and babys need a new pair of shoes, my racing days are over. ------------ Add Christine info here ------------ It had been sitting on a main drag in San Francisco for 3-4 months, just getting dirty, no "For Sale" sign or anything
