Anthony is my oldest son. He has never had any formal training in artwork, so all of the art on this page is self-taught. The drawings are in the order that they were given to me. Sad to say he doesn’t have a MySpace, but I hope to talk him into getting one.

Tony's Cat 1

This was the first drawing that he sent to me. I received it from him on July 12, 2004. It is done in ink in a way that was foreign to me. An ink pen is broken and the ink is ‘brushed’ on using a brush made from a rolled up sheet of paper. About two weeks later Anthony sent me a letter asking me to send it back to him, so that he could add the whiskers. I couldn’t bring myself to part with it, so I refused.

Anthony said that this Indian woman was drawn from an image in his mind. It is done in pencil. It is so amazing the detail that he is capable with what I have always thought of as a ‘simple’ instrument. This drawing came to me in September of 2004. You can hear her laughter and see the joy in her eyes.

The receipt of this sketch was unbelievably well timed. It came in the mail the day before Kendi’s first birthday. (August 18 2004 was her hatch day) It was a gift to me to see Anthony’s idea of what I look like. When I saw this picture I immediately started practicing with my makeup determined to replicate this flawless look.

This is going to be a tattoo that was designed for me by Anthony. To say that I love it would be a huge under-statement. The only problem is that I am reluctant to have it done because of the imagined pain.
