The year 2000 was not a travel year for us, but a year of building. Building our cabin in the mountains!

We purchased property near Virginia Lakes, which is between Bridgeport, and Mono Lake off of Highway 395 on the Eastern Side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The property is at nearly 10,000 foot elevation. We have been 3 years in the building mode, as the season in which you are able to access the site is limited due to ALOT of snow.

In fact this is me hiking up our driveway, Thanksgiving weekend 2000. Once the snow gets a little deeper, we can't drive close enough to hike in, and we will be purchasing a snow mobile soon for the winter trips.

The summers are mild and wonderful for hiking. From the top of our ridge, you can see about 11 lakes, including Mono Lake. We love to take the hike to the top, it is a hard hike, but worth the effort. Here is our friend Janet Morris currently residing in Minnesota and I after the hike up, yes, we are resting before we have a snack.

This is the view!!!! This picture was taken from the front porch on Thanksgiving weekend.
We have had our share of sad times in the year 2000. My 12 year old Springer Spaniel starting having seizures in January, and after many episodes, trips to the vet, and heart ache, Brandy passed on in August. She has been sorely missed. We have finally decided we are ready for another dog, and anxiously await the arrival of Lhotse, a Samoyed puppy in February, 2001!
But on a happy note, here we are at a Christmas Party, Larry, Lynda, Joe and Shannon.
For info on 1999, you can still see what we have been up to.
