2002 - A New Year - Thank Goodness

2001 ended quietly, thank goodness, with a New Year's at home with just a couple of friends as Lynda laid on an ice pack for a sore shoulder.

And 2002 started with a tearful trip to the airport to take Shannon to catch a plane back to New York after the holidays.
Then Lynda started into physical therapy for her stiff shoulder, which improved only to move the pain down to her lower back. 3 months later she is finally not laying on the heating paid or ice packs nightly.

Joe, Shannon, Lynda and Janet In February, I did still manage a trip to New York City with my old friend Janet, who used to live in NYC. Boy did we have a blast!

Here are Joe (Shannon's fiancee) Shannon, Lynda and Janet, after a wonderful Italian dinner, our last night though :(

Shannon, Joe and Janet

We did alot of walking that trip, from Ground Zero through Tribecca to Soho. Saw all the great buildings, and finally went to the top of the Empire State Building.
Sure was windy up there, Shannon, Joe and Janet are cold, can you tell?

Shannon - February 15th, 2002

Shannon on the top of the Empire State Building. Just after I clicked this picture a guys standing next to us proposed to his girlfriend.

Larry was home with Lhotse, and she was having a blast being a bad dog....

The cabin is finally finished this year, except for the cleaning of it, and furnishing, and getting the water pumped up the hill. I don't have any good current pics of the inside, except the fireplace with Larry and Lhotse.

We had ALOT of snow this year, 17 foot drifts at the back of the cabin. Here you just see the roof, and this is a two story cabin. This picture was taken in the middle of April 2002.

We still managed alot of hiking, Lhoste has to carry her own gear and water, but she hates her backpack.

This summer Larry and I went back east to see his Aunt Tillie (81), and Aunt Lizzie (almost 97), Koren, Justin and Kelsey, and Shannon and Joe, plus we met up with a cousin of his that he hadn't seen in 20 years or so, Michael Tusoni. It was quite a trip, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and everything else in between as we drove into New York City, and watched the best fireworks we had ever seen on the 4th of July. Shannon, her friend Karlyn and Larry and I watched them for the 33rd floor of Shannon's office, from an open window overlooking the East River.

Then back home to plan our next trip, our second honeymoon to Europe! Our 10th anniversary was in June, so we thought this would be a good time to go back to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy. This trip was for two reasons though, the first was to pick up a NEW MERCEDES!

We started off flying into Stuttgart, then picked up the car and drove to Nordlingen, which is the only completely walled town left in Germany that you can walk the full circle on the wall. Shannon spent 3 weeks here as a Rotary exchange student in 1998, and then another month with her German host family in 2000. So this was our first opportunity to meet the Lessniak's. We had a wonderful dinner with them in Nordlingen.

This is the little sports car model, SLK 32 AMG, that the convertible top folds down into the trunk in 25 seconds, it is so cool!

October 12th was my 25th year class reunion, of Sonora High School. I created a website so fellow classmates could tell us about themselves, give reunion infomation and add pictures. I am still working on adding the pics taken that night, some of them turned out pretty dark, so alot of lightening will have to take place. I plan on leaving the website up, so maybe more of our classmates can log on, download pics and stay in touch. http://www.sonorahigh77.com

See what we did in 2001.
