Conrad Anker Tenaya Elementary Gym - Groveland

Tickets are $12 adults, $8 for those 18 and under

Conrad Anker, one of the world's foremost mountaineers, will speak at a special fundraising event on July 12 in Groveland. The event starts at 7:30 pm, and will be held in the Tenaya Elementary Gym just east of downtown Groveland along Highway 120. Conrad has ascended Mt. Everest twice, and has been featured widely in the press, including two Outside Magazine covers, National Geographic, Men's Journal, and the New York Times. He has also been on Nova, the Today Show, and IMAX features. He will be joined by his wife Jenni Lowe- Anker, who has just published a book called "Forget Me Not." The book is about her life with climber Alex Lowe, who perished in an avalanche in 1999. Conrad was with Alex in the avalanche, but ran in a different direction and survived. Together Conrad and Jenni consoled each other, and eventually fell in love and married. The two live with their three sons in Bozeman, MT.

Tickets are $12 each per adult, and $8 for those 18 and under. Tickets are available at various Groveland and Sonora locations and at the door. The event is a fundraiser for the Southern Tuolumne County Historical Society (STCHS). All funds will benefit the restoration of the historic Wells Fargo Building which was recently donated to STCHS.
